Douglas W. Child, CPA
Douglas Child, CPA began his career with Ernst and Young (E&Y) in 1984 after graduating Magna Cum Laude from Utah State University with a bachelor’s degree in accounting. Doug became an audit manager at E&Y. After five years, he made the switch to E&Y’s tax department to provide tax services. He survived another five years as tax manager in charge of the Entrepreneurial Services arm of the Salt Lake office in which he worked with “middle-market” and entrepreneurial companies in both the tax and audit departments of E&Y. Because of his rare experience in both departments, Doug became the go-to guy for the review of the income tax disclosures for public entities, a niche that he has kept up throughout his career.
After leaving E&Y in 1994, Doug began developing his own tax and audit practice. In 2000, Doug put the growth of the tax practice on hold while he assisted the firm in acquiring and developing the Low-Income and Affordable Housing audit practice. Doug has been Chief Audit Partner, and is now Managing Partner of Pinnacle Accountancy Group, PLLC. His expertise is in compliance audits- primarily SEC and small private company audits, along with HUD issuers, corporate and partnership taxation and real estate. He is licensed in several states. Doug has also been a licensed mortgage broker and a Registered Investment Advisor (RIA). He sits on the Board of Directors of “Anything for a Friend”, a qualified charitable organization. As a past board member and CFO of several related real estate development companies, Doug was in charge of reviewing Private Placement Memorandums and investor subscription documents which included verifying investors met the accredited investor qualifications. As a member of the Investment Committee of these funds, he became an RIA by passing the Series 6, 62, 63 and 65 exams as well as the State Insurance exams.
Doug is a member of the Affordable Housing Association of CPAs (AHACPA), the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA) and the AICPA Center for Governmental Audit Quality, the Utah Association of Certified Public Accountants (UACPA). Doug has a passion for hunting, fishing and boating with family.
